Baked Lamb Kofta

Grind 1 onion + 4 cloves of garlic + 1 small tomato + 1 hot pepper ( any other vegetable can be added like bell peppers or parsley ).

Add them to approximately a pound of ground lamb.

add the spices :

1 tsp all spice (can be left out)

1/2 tsp turmeric

1 tsp carry powder

1/2 tsp cumin

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon


Mix everything together then spread and flatten the mixture in a baking dish.

Arrange and press down some round lemon pieces on top ( for both flavor and presentation ).

In another bowl, mix 2 cups of boiling hot water + 1 tbsp tomato paste + the juice of half a lemon + 1/2 tsp salt + 1/2 tsp ground cardamom + 1/2 tsp curry powder + 1 tbsp crushed garlic + 2 tbsp olive oil.

Pour the liquid mixture over the ground meat in the baking dish and cover with aluminum foil.

Place the baking dish in a preheated oven ( covered ) at 350°F for one and a half hours. Remove the foil wrap and bake for another 30 minutes.


Serve with rice and yogurt 🙂
